The Valdicecina with its numerous nature reserves, famously those of Berignone and Montenero, offers the ideal opportunity for all types of excursions, from the shortest to the most demanding. The territory of Podere Montaione bears witness to Etruscan, Roman and medieval civilisation, with its numerous villages, fortresses, castles and medieval parish churches.
For cycling enthusiasts, less than a kilometre away it is possible to rent eBikes or opt for horseback excursions, offered by nearby stables.
What to do in and around Podere Montaione
In our area everything is immersed in the scents, colours and flavours of the countryside. You can spend your free time relaxing in the heated swimming pool with hydromassage, sipping good wine, getting a massage from the waterfalls or reading a book under the centuries-old oaks.
You can also pass the time by enjoying a game of bocce. The wine cellar also offers the opportunity to taste a selection of Tuscan and regional Italian wines as well as the oil produced and the wine bottled by the Azienda Agricola Podere Montaione.

AD 1398 medieval re-enactment
Every year on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of August, music, food, dancing and games will take you back to the medieval atmosphere.
Astiludio
An event to revive the ancient traditions of playing with the flag, of which Tuscany is rich.

Tug-of-war competition in medieval costumes between the city’s districts.
Red Night
On the second Saturday of September, Volterra is tinged with red, the colour of our sunsets and Rosso Fiorentino’s Deposition from the Cross.
Volterra Gusto
A fixed appointment each year with the products of the Alta Val di Cecina and takes place in Volterra.
